The Planken is the main pedestrian area in central Mannheim with all sorts of shops and restaurants. The streetcar line runs in the center of the street making it very easy to transit about the city.

With the streets left and right this is still the best place to shop in the region. When you come in the morning and lift your head you also can see great houses. Tram goes right through the street.

Quite a descent offer of fashion, Brands such as Hilfiger and Boss, but also department stores like Engelhorn, P&C or Galleria. good for a couple of hours of fine shopping

Don't expect much from the Planken shopping street today till next year because the Mannheim council has ordered the street to be ripped up for "improvements". Barriers, holes in the street and heaps of sand are the main feature.
