i visited especially to view the Riemenschneider altar, and was not disappointed. Surprisingly, one can walk right up to this remarkable sculpture. this is a fine museum, tho i almost missed the entry.

The food was manageable, although a bit pricey. But the service deserves the distinction of worse in town. The waiters are slow and careless: one of them SAT FOR A SMOKE with a couple of friends in one of the tables.... during his shift! He...More

We actually ended up here because we had some down time, not because we specifically sought it out. I'm so glad we did! It's a smallish museum, and with the audioguide, you go through the history of the area, from Roman times (some interesting archaeological...More

I found this an interesting museum, though when I went everything was in German. Perhaps what really struck me was the elements that showed the Roman presence in the area.

This is one of the better museums we visited while in Germany. This is a large collection but a 1 1/2 hour time investment will leave you with the feeling that you've covered what you wanted to see. Something for everyone!

This is the city museum of Heidelberg, and thus a bit of everything is presented. It has a decent archaeological section, with the wooden fundaments of the Roman bridge over the Neckar river, some grave goods. Also some Celtic and Frankish finds are on display...More

There is a lot to see in this museum and one could easily spend half a day if the goal was to see everything. The exhibits span the possible subjects - history (from prehistory on), art, fashion, royalty and rulers, home furnishings - pretty much...More

No parking directly around the museum, it is pedestrianised. Parking further out is available and it is easy to walk.
