Would be my top museum if only more information available in English

I paid $ 6 at the museum which i think is too much considering that I could understand Nothing is all in german and it seems they are not prepared to receive international visitors. The paintings are very interesting however the archeological side is not to be understood by an english speaking tourist, so at the end is just for... More

I love this museum! This came highly recommended by my guide tour at the Heidelberg Castle, Haggar. From the outside, it looks like a normal building but once you're inside, it's a maze! One can get lost very easily. I wish they can organize the themes properly so that one can enjoy the museum entirely without going back and forth.... More

This museum does really have some nice stuff to show: nice paintings, sumptuous period rooms and a nice archaeology collection with quite a few early Medieval findings. But there's just no main story/message in the museum, it's a mish-mash of small rooms with lot's of different things. It's really difficult to find your way around and you have to backtrack... More

This is a great museum to visit whilst staying Heidelberg, especially great preparation for visiting den Schloss Heidelberg (castle) as it illustrates the local history focusing on the Electoral Palatinate (Kurpflaz), and the "Winter King" Fredderick V. This is a significant part of history following the Royal lineage as Frederick V's granddaughter became the sister-in-law to Louis XIV, and descendant... More

This museum is much larger than it seems from the outside. I found the floor lay-out to be a bit confusing, and had to backtrack my own steps on a few occasions during my visit. The collections are comprehensive, but there's not much information available in English. The highlight of my visit was the permanent art exhibition.

If you are looking to pass an hour stop in to the museum. It is cheap, 3 euros and has quite a few paintings to see. Right down town. I wouldn't have seen the entrance if it wasn't for the sign of the Italian restaurant.

This museum sort of blew me away, so much to see, in fact too much for the limited time I could spend. Definitely one I would love to come back to sometime. Fantastic value for money.

Didn't go to the museum but had lunch at the restaurant in the courtyard. The pizza was good and the service was good as well. The water fountain in the courtyard defiantly added to the experience.

MOst probably from outside you wouldn't realize, how big this museum is. You can wander from room to room, a spend a lot of time in it. They have various objects from paintings, sculputrs, textiles, etc. It is worth to visit. And the building itself is very attractive.

I'd been to Heidelberg before, but never made it to this museum- what a mistake. It's a great way to orient yourself to the city and surrounds. As of March 2016 the entrance is only 3 Euro, with discounts on weekends and for other concessions. For that price you might expect a few rooms and half-hearted dioramas, but its an... More
