I was quite suprised when I learnt that this way calls Phiosophers' Way. Some friends told me some stories about this way and then I totally loved it. It is wonderful to see some places that have some stories!

Enjoyed a lovely walk along the opposite side of the valley from the Old City which afforded great views. A bit of a climb up but well worth it. Definitely a must do.

Incredible walk that allows you to enjoy the best views of the old city if Heidelberg. You can choose how long you want to walk. A short walk shows you the city, a bit longer one makes you go into a forest with the tallest...More

Please do not miss this walk if visiting Heidelberg. Pleasant walk, breathtaking vies of the city with the castle, especially in the afternoon, when the sunlight is just right. Also, leads to more interesting sites up the Heiligenberg.

A bit of a steep climb but well worth the views at the top! Path was a bit untidy with lots of rubbish around (just after New Years Eve) but was quite interesting. The walk took us about 40 minutes with stops and takes you...More

I walked for 3h there. The ruins, the path, the trees and the view from the top are OK compared to the rest of the city. It is a good place for hiking and exercise though. Using Google Maps offline and Maps.me made me choose...More

I already wrote a review of the castle so this is sadly similar. The aerial views from here were totally awesome. I'm not sure about dawn but near dusk the lighting was fabulous. I would totally make the walk up again, next time I visit.

The Philosophenweg offers the best aerial views of Heidelberg. At the top, it’s surreal to gaze down at the Old Town and Neckar River, as philosophers and artists have done for centuries. Absolutely worth the effort/climb!

The only thing I would recommend, if doing this in winter, is to make sure you have shoes with good soles and grip. We found the paved areas and stairs a little slippery, especially as it had been raining. It was still worth... More
