We climbed up the hill during late afternoon on a cold, cloudy day. Even so the view of the city and the river was amazing. Took great photos. Highly recommended hike in Heidelberg.

Gorgeous stroll through the woods. Loved the autumnal colours , fine exercise but no good if you have any health issues as it was quite a long walk. Lovely views and photo opportunities.

Lovely walk and beautiful views of the Neckar River & Heidelberg. Not a difficult walk but well worth it.

Once you cross the old bridge to the opposite side of the river you will find a sign Schlangenweg/Philospoherweg directly across the street. The path is cobbled stone and a bit of a climb. It is not steep but rather "snakes" its way back and...More

The more fit, the better for tackling this hike but the reward is a gorgeous view of the entire city of Heidelberg and the Neckar River. Once at the top, you become aware of the great use made of the Philosopher's Way by locals in...More

The only thing I would recommend, if doing this in winter, is to make sure you have shoes with good soles and grip. We found the paved areas and stairs a little slippery, especially as it had been raining. It was still worth... More
