Relaxing and a great view of Heidelberg. Good exercise too. Worthwhile walk. Initial steps may be a bit steep for some but there are other ways via a roadway to get to the top.

The views are amazing of the old town. However, if you are out of shape - do NOT attempt this. It is rigorous walking uphill.

Best start to go up is Neuenheim. Better and easier than at the old bridge. Enjoy the cityview. There is a kiosk and a little playground in the middle. Beautiful view!!

Unfortunately we had only half an hour to explore this great place. The view of the Old City and the castle is perfect. People walk and run there. I really want to come back to spend there several hours.

I wanted to see more of the city but did not want to stand in line or be in heavy crowds so this was perfect. There are very nice views of the old town with the castle, church & bridge.

Can't beat the view, but be prepared for some steep parts at the start (Western edge) and down the optional shortcut back to the city (at Alte Bruecke) called Schlangenweg. Functional footwear (like sneakers) is highly recommended.

We enjoyed a sunny but fairly cool late summer day as we walked up to and down the Philsopher's Way. The views over the river and the city were beautiful and we very much enjoyed the experience.

The only thing I would recommend, if doing this in winter, is to make sure you have shoes with good soles and grip. We found the paved areas and stairs a little slippery, especially as it had been raining. It was still worth... More
