What a lovely time at Heidelberg's Castle! We arrived shortly after 11:00am and was able to join the 11:15 English tour (€6.50 reduces admission). The railway to the top of the castle was out of service so we took a free bus to the top....More

The walk to the castle equals 23 flights of stairs, with beautiful views all the way up and back. So interesting and we could envision what it was like hundreds of years ago with the courtyard filled with people. Glad we did the walk!

Just above heidelberg there's this castle which you can reach walking on a path or taking the staircase, but if you're not an athletic type there is also the cable car, it brings you up directly to the castle! The entrance is free, so you...More

We should have visited during the morning to have better view. But even at night it was great view for the castle. I know I’m coming here again so I will visit this place again.

It’s not so much what it is was, but more what it is today. The Castle is a sprawling monument to the lofty ambition of its multiple builders and to the senseless revenge of the Frenchmen who destroyed it. Lots of parallels to today. The...More

Unless you are fit then take the funicular up to the castle as it is halfway up a hill! Even though there may be a lot of people waiting it is still very quick to get up there. In the train station in the town...More

Being destroyed several times during its history, particularly in the 17th century during the Thirty Years War, the castle is mostly in ruins. Towers, walls and other buildings that form it are still in state of ruin which shows its long dramatic history. After buying...More

You can go up and park. There is a parking place, but its really small. Or you can also park on the road side, before entering the Castle.
