This is a hidden gem! Just a few minuets from Calw. Look for the interesting statues by Peter Lenk along the road just a few meters past the turn-off. Double back to Hirsau and you'll find free parking across from the main gate. After visiting...More

This singular place is located in Hirsau, a small town a few kilometres from Calw, the birth town of Herman Hesse. Surrounded by a beautiful and quiet scenery, this is a enclosed complex of various buildings, some of them still in use, some of them...More

We stayed here for two nights last weekend. It was fab! Realky nice rooms, nice staff, great breakfast. The owners very kindly left some beautiful wine in our room, as we had been joking about only water in the minibar. Really really nice people.

Alot of neat buildings. Worth seeing. One of the better ruins I saw in my trip. Make sure you go inside the church and dont go on a state holiday like I did or you will die of thirst and starvation. The entire town closes....More

We spent a morning at Kloster Hirsau, and it was very special. There weren't many tourists around, so we could walk around in peace and take it all in. These ruins are a complex of buildings and chapels, now overgrown and set in a lovely...More

Kloster Hirsau is just down the road from Calw (another must see) and didn't disappoint. Although in ruins, nearly all the building structures are intact and span a period of several hundred years. Entrance is free and you can wander and explore at your leisure....More

Only 2 km away from Calw. Worth of a visit when you visit north Black Forest. No ticket is required to visit the ruins (only a small fee for the nearby museum). A must go is the Cafe at Kloster. The interior gives a flavor...More

Just outside town in road towards Bad Willdbad. Most impressive is ruin on cloister. Abbey church evangelical so has few details from days as Cluniac church.

Calw is very small and you can walk from the station. Pretty little town in and of itself.
