Fantastic views

Well worth the trip, got the bus up from town centre and then the funicular - it was stunning and especially from the top of the observation tower. Do it!

We took the Merkurbahn up and down. At the top there is a great view of the surrounding area. There is an inrtersting exhibit of the various types of rocks that make up the mountains. Near the tower at the top, there is a playground, and 6 huge cubes of various stone, made to look like dice. Interesting. We used... More

Took the trail up and the cable car down. We walked wrong for a while on the way up but found our direction again after an extra kilometer. Maybe it was due to bad signing but it could also be blamed on our ability to follow signs... The view and café on the top was well worth the walk. It... More

Go up for a nice lunch at the restaurant, or bring your own for a picnic. Superb view. Not too high up or far away, so you can make out the buildings in town. And high enough to see miles away.

You HAVE to go! You can walk or bike up the path to the top or take the railway (which we did.) Gorgeous views for miles. Paragliders are at your fingertips, prepping for sailing off the mountain - they literally run off the maountain and soar before your eyes. There is a small place at the top to grab a... More

Taking the train thing up merkur mountain was a highlight of our visit to Baden-Baden. On a good day the views from the top are incredible and you can even go to the top of the tower. There's a lovely cafe at the top which serves amazing cake. I recommend walking down through the woods.

Fun with little ones. You can get push chairs up the funicular but you need to get staff to let you through the barriers- they do fit but it's tight getting on and off. Great restaurant at the top with high chairs, but you could also take a picnic. Lounge around on big wooden sunloungers at the top, there's a... More
