I spent a day in Black Forest. Started the road B500 from Baden- Baden to the lake. It’s a gorgeous drive and scenery. There are some hiking path and walking tracks, short and long if you have time to do. Loved spending a day there.

We took D28 east from Strasbourg to the D500, then north on the D500 to Baden Baden where we stayed. Very good roads with scenic overlooks similar to Blue Ridge Parkway. Had a good dinner in Baden Baden and put on a sport coat to visit the casino. Very nice, upscale, cultured, old world casino.

Our bus tour passed by the Black Forest on the Germany side. It was cool but alittle bit eerie . For the rest stop we got to the cuockoo shop. We got to see how this German kind watch is made and got to eat Authentic Black forest cake !

Excellent! This was the best road we drove on during our whole trip in the Black Forest. It is a quintessential Black Forest experience. When you imagine the Black Forest – this is exactly it. Make sure you take time to stop at Lake Mummelsee for a snack and short hike on the way.

Drive from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt on this road, called the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse in German (road number B500). Such a relaxing drive!
The road swerves gently from left to right, the climbing isn't too bad (big tourist coaches go up the same road), not much traffic, speed limit of 70 km/h most of the time so not a lot of idiotic overtaking and giving you the chance to enjoy the scenery, regular places to pull over and enjoy the spectacular views. Drive with the windows open if you can to get the smells of the trees and fresh air!
We stopped at the Mummelsee which was a bit too touristy for our liking but a nice lake to walk around and stretch your legs anyway.

Get off the A5 highway and see the views of the Black Forest. This is the road to do it on. The highway, known in German as the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse, goes from Baden Baden to Freudenstat. Sure it takes longer but the views are great. Don't rush it. And if you have time take a detour to Allerheilegen - gothic church ruins and waterfall.

Beautiful drive. So many hiking trails. The Mummelsee looks wonderful. We want to go back and hike around. Lots of geocaching trails.

We drove the road from Baden Baden to Freudenstadt, the scenery was lovely, the variety of the colour green through the forest was incredible. We stopped at Mummelsee, small lake, easy walk around, nice gift shops, the car park does get busy. We next stopped at Lotharpfad which has a nice circuit walkway, we had lunch in Kniebis and a coffee in Freudenstadt, travelled the valley road home, also scenic with lots of restaurant options by the river, we then took the back road from Forbach back to Baden Baden, this is a very narrow windy road, but probably offered the most spectacular views of the day
