The Plum Lyon kitchen welcomes you to come for cooking lessons in the city center of Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France. Located in the ancient silk-worker's district on the hill of the Croix Rousse, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Plum Lyon Teaching Kitchen is offering seasonal market classes, classic French cooking, children's workshops in English, and single subject ateliers that cover a chosen technique or theme in French cuisine. We accommodate 6-8 students per class. There is plenty of opportunity for hands-on learning in our classes.

Great time with Lucy. We have done many cooking classes with market tours but this was the first where we genuinely searched the market for what looked most interesting and derived a menu from the items the students wanted to try. Very delicious recipes in a relaxed and instructive environment. Very worthwhile.

Lucy, the owner of Plum, took the 5 of us to the Croix Rousse farmer's market where we bought the ingredients for the four course meal we all helped prepare. There were many things on the menu I hadn't had before, such as rabbit, sausage with walnuts, so it was fun to try new foods. She also gave us background... More

Great entertainment we did a market to table day. It start with a two hour trip through the market choosing ingredients to cook a four course feast. Great fun and a lovely way to be entertained with out the need to be an expert cook. Can't be faulted. In English too.

Lucy was just so wonderful. The entire day was planned out so wonderfully and there was never a dull moment. The market visit makes you feel like a local and the cooking offers enough of a challenge but still the reality that you can take it home and reproduce it. Our group was made up of 3 Americans and the... More

The full day cooking was outstanding. Lucy, owner of Plum, couldn't have been better. Ironically, she was born and raised in Syracuse NY just like my wife, so there was immediate rapport. We visited the Lyon daily farmer's market and picked out the day's ingredients for our cooking. When we returned, she composed the 5 course menu and then we... More

This is a wonderful class in which we not only cooked our meal for the day but learned about the history of cooking in Lyon. Lucy makes this a complete day with a trip to the local market and the meal selection based on what is available and looks good. We had the opportunity to select items for the meal... More

Lucy taught us to make a beautiful and delicious dessert. She was well prepared, organized and ready to teach. The instruction kitchen is beautiful with a small class size. Her instructions were clear and her technique professional. She is from the USA, so we were happy to have the opportunity of a class in English. Lucy is also fluent in... More

My Wife & I had a lovely day learning French Cuisine with Lucy. We had another traveller with us and it "The Best Day Ever". Lucy took us to the markets and guided us with the history of Lyon as well. 6 Hours of cooking and eating and learning in this special culinary culture of food was a highlight. A... More

We have been spending some relaxed time in Lyon catching our breath, sleeping in, exercising, reading and of course cooking some of our own food. This seemed like a perfect time to take on a cooking class in France. I signed on to Lucy Vanel's Plum Teaching Kitchen after a recommendation form a friend on a previous tour. Lucy is... More
