France was occupied by the Nazis during WWII and this museum pays homage to the French who lived under that occupation and especially to the Resistance fighters and Jews who were deported to the death camps in Germany. There is an inexpensive (1 euro extra-request...More

It was sobering to think that this was where Klaus Barbie had tortured so many brave members of the Resistance, including Jean Moulin. The exhibits were very interesting, as was the 45 minuted film of excerpts from Barbie's 1987 trial in Lyon. However, like many...More

Very sobering experience. Watch the film first and take the audio: it will mean much more to you. History is full of hindsight ...l

This is harrowing but an essential place for everyone to visit particularly those who have no personal memories of the war. When some people try to distort history and downplay the horrors of the Second World war, the truth can be found here.

Lyon was a resistance HQ in WW II and the small exhibit provides deep local history of this period of great sadness and great heroism.

We visited Lyon as a day trip from Geneva. The museum is difficult to find from the train station as there is no signposting as monument or place of interest. The layout is interesting. The problem is that unless you speak French your only hope...More

We had no language problem. We had obviously heard of Klaus Barbie, but there is so much more to this place. The story of the evil that men do when they resort to stereotyping and drift into hating. This is balanced by the inspirational history...More

I was worried about all the reviews saying if you don't speak French you can't enjoy this place. While it's beyond me why they don't have at least one or two other languages in their posters, they have a book that gets you through the...More
