I may well have missed some of this neighborhood's attractions, but apart from Le Gros Cailloux (a large rock placed where there is a great view out over the city and an amusing legend about its existence) and the Maison des Canuts (a small museum...More

4 of us this May went on a private tour with Sebastien Girard (who speaks impeccable English) through the Traboules of Lyon. It was an excellent Tour in his own private car, very reasonably priced. He also showed us amongst other places in Lyon, the...More

This area of Lyon is where all the silk production occurred. There are some great wall murals in the area and it is like a completely different city is on top of the hill. Worth taking a bus to the top and walking down or...More

It is a vibrant place but also has some calm streets. It has a creative and hipp vibe with little shops, art galleries, restaurants and cafes. All the area has stunning views.

We loved our stay in La Croix Rousse. A lovely buzzing atmosphere, lots of bars and restaurants with outdoor seating. Amazing views and a delicious food market.

This is an arty and ecletic neighbourhood. Nestled on a hill with lots of little alleyways to explore. Full of great cafes, restaurants, coffee shops and boutique stores. The artists are also working within their shops where they sell their goods. This neighborhood also offers...More

Perched on the hill is Croix-Rousse, the former silk loom/jacquard loom capital of Lyon. The neighborhood is highly walkable and has a very friendly, open vibe. Great restaurants and boulangeries on every block. Don't forget a stop at the cat cafe.

We just stayed for 2 weeks in this neighborhood and are in love with the area. There are huge farmer's markets almost every other day on the main street at the top of the hill offering every fruit, vegetable, meat, and cheese you could want...More

I really enjoyed Croix-Rousse as I visited the neighborhood on a very sunny - but not warm - day. Wear sneakers if you want to see it properly as you will have to walk up and down.
