I've been to a lot of churches throughout Europe and although this is not one of the biggest or most impressive, it is the most beautiful one I've ever seen. The ceilings, windows, mosaics, floor, etc. is all so intricate and stunning. The basement has...More

Walk or cycle up there. Worth the view of the entire city. Burn off a few calories in expectation of taking on several thousand more when you get back down into town for supper.

Definelty a must visit when in Lyon and is worth the hike. If you do not feel like hiking there are bus options as well. Cathedral is amazing on the inside and there are some picaresque views of the city.

Everything went welll except for the weather! The funicular railway ride was quick and direct. Plenty to see from the surrounding square to the magnificently decorated interior & crypt.

Well worth walking up through the old city of Lyon to La Fourviere. Lots of beautiful old building to admire. Take in the Roman Theatre en route as well. Fantastic views over Lyon once up top.

We are going to Paris in a couple of weeks and plan to visit Notre Dame after visiting one of the local markets. However, we have read somewhere that you could not take 'luggage' in to the cathedral, we are hoping that luggage refers to suitcase/holdalls etc. and that small backpacks are acceptable. Can anyone confirm?

I had a small backpack with raincoat and water bottle. It was inspected by a guard and I was let into the Cathedral.
