We went to the Bastille yesterday - although it was raining a bit- it was still worth it. As it gave an almost 360 degrees view of the city. We also went to the caves behind the viewing area, it was really interesting but need to have proper walking shoes to go down the steps within the cave and have... More

You cannot miss this spot. It gives you a perfect and tremendous view of Grenoble and the mountains around. I would advise you to climb it up rather than use the cable so you can enjoy the view while having some sport ! Then you can go down with the cable, it is pretty nice.

A must see in Grenoble. Ride the "bulles" or hike up to the top of the Bastille for tremendous views of the city and the surrounding Alps. Particularly beautiful for sunrise or sunset views. For those interested in hiking up further, the Bastille is also the starting point for a number of day hikes of different lengths.

Really enjoyable trip on the cable car up the mountain. Went up there about 4pm and was up there relaxing until about 7:20pm. Fantastic views of the Grenoble area. The Mountain Troop museum is great too and with a very interesting audio tour. Enjoyed a drink and some lunch in the panoramic restaurant. The roof-top cafe and rope swinging activities... More

I've done this walk on several occasions and it never fails to be enjoyable. Its a good walk/hike to the top- best views of the city. You can get a bite to eat at a restaurant at the top as well as take the cable car back down. Don't miss it!

You can enjoy the Bastille at your own pace. Either take the cable car for a relaxing scenic trip or hike the trails and stairs for a good exercise. You will get some amazing views of Grenoble and some interesting sites of the Bastille itself. Make sure to catch lunch at the restaurant at the top. You may want to... More

Fort Bastille provides travellers with the best view of the city of Grenoble. Catch the gondola to the Fort and explore its surrounds and if you are up for a hike, continue past the Fort and walk to the War Memorial approximately 25-30 minutes further up the hill for even better and less travelled views of the amazing city.
