About
The town hall, built in 1656, is a beautiful example of the civil architecture of the end of the 17th century. Marseille's council has met here since the Middle Ages. Today, it houses the offices of the mayor, municipal councillors and other administrative offices.

This is a majestic looking building sat right at the doorstep of the harbour. It has beautiful intricate architecture surrounding it's doors and windows along with a splendid balcony housing eleven different flags. Central to it's peak is also a marvellous motif. Unfortunately on passing it around three times it was never open to view inside.

This is City Hall for this very large city. Obviously most of the administrative activities happen elsewhere. This is lovely 19th Century architecture on the waterfront, the traditional center of town.

nothing special this building, 1-2 photos here and you are ok. The area is nice, very close to vieux port, some green area behind and a road to Panier very close here.

The building is a traditional classic municipality head office. It can not be visited, except for official business. But it looks nice!

L' Hotel de Ville is a lovely building. In fact it is one of the very first important sights we saw when we arrived in the city. Another important element is the sculptures of two animals, that is the bull and the lion, which are next to the City Hall building. These two animals are part of the coat of arms of the city of Marseille and they represent a number of symbols, such as the sea and travel, commerce and trade, and strength and power. The City Hall is located in a great spot which is right in front of the waters edge, in the Old Port.

This is a lovely building in the center, some very classic architecture on the water where it belongs in this important port city. We walked past and lingered.

This 17th century beauty is now city hall and the seat of government for Marseilles. It faces the old harbor on Quai du Port. Good photo op. Tourist entry is prohibited.

Hotel de Ville, - the ornate City Hall circa Louis XIV, is centrally located on the Quai du Port. It is a beautiful building from the outside
