The chateau has been incredibly restored. Each room is very different and quite breathtaking. There were also some incredible pieces of ceramics, perfume bottles and more. We were so pleased we went, will advise it and probably go again when in Marseille.

The castle is at a park which is quite nice. At the moment the castle is closed, so I cannot say anything about the interior.

I went there last Thursday, on the 83 bus from the Vieux Port. The museum is in an 18th century chateau, and one crosses a park with ornamental features to get to it. The building's exterior is plain but harmonious. The chateau was used by M. Borely in the summer and also for entertainment, so its interior is sumptuous, and everything is well displayed. The collection includes extensive examples of china made in Marseille and the surrounding area, so one is not likely to see it elsewhere. In a servants' corridor they have fitted some early 19th century wall paper showing Swiss landscapes. There are works from later periods, such as art nouveau furniture.
A number of the items were always in the chateau, as they belonged to the very prosperous Borely family.
There is a series of grand rooms, including a drawing room, dining room, bathroom, bedroom and chapel. The staff are very friendly, and keen to practise their English.

Chateau Borely is well worth visiting. The museum is set out in the style of a rich merchant's house which it once was with the rooms in their original setting. There are descriptive cards in three languages and braille in each room describing what is contained there. You pay for your admission at an adjacent building that doubles up as a cafe.

Small exhibition of faiences which was somewhat interesting. A very strange mix-up of that permanent exhibition with another small exhibition of French women’s haute couture from the 1980-90’s, the installation of which actually covered up some of the features of the restored castle (ceilings, chandelier). In my view, that exhibition was lightweight and indulgent. I am glad there was no entry charge.

We really liked the Chateau and the collection. Good Porcelains, Tapestries, furniture and fashions. Special exhibit on Military uniforms' influences on fashion.
Not crowded as it is a ways out of the center.

This museum houses a very good collection of faience, well-dislpayed, in a lovely building. There are rarely many visitors as it is some distance from the center, so quite a pleasure. Don't miss the lovely formal gardens.

We took the 83 bus out to the Chateau - about a 30 minute ride up the coast. Sit on the right side for the best views.

We then walked through Park Borely to the Chateau. We spent a little less then an hour touring through the home. We appreciated that they had cards in English for each room. The cards were also in French, Italian and braille.

There were storage lockers and clean bathrooms inside the Chateau. Seniors get a discount if you have proof of your age.

Afterwards we walked along the beach and then had lunch. It was a nice escape to the suburbs outside of Marseille.

This was my favorite museum during a month long stay in Marseille. A wonderful collection of historic and contemporary ceramics in a palace setting. The palace rooms and furnishings are in excellent condition, and the collections are astounding works of craftsmanship and style. There was also a temporary exhibition about black and white women's fashion as the chateau is called the Museum of Decorative Arts, Fashion, and Ceramics. The Chateau is located on the grounds of Parc Borely.
