Very frustrating - in the year when Marseille is European Capital of Culture what looks to be a potentially interesting cultural venue/exhibition space on the docks waterfront actually closed on 27 May and will not reopen until 12 October. Lots of money for a good view on the ferry boats. Why spend nine Euros for walking around in black containers being educated on the different people who live around the Mediterranean. Boring.

The J1 is part of the newly open set of buildings for Marseille European of Culture 2013 It contains several workshops and photo exhibitions (free) and a permanent exhibition (free if you are below 26) on the Mediterranean cities that made its history, including Tyr, Venice, Genoa, Istambul etc and Marseille.
