I visited the gardens hoping to get great views of the old port and was not disappointed. It’s easy to access from the old port itself.

The Palais du Pharo and gardens are the best location to view the old port. The location looks down on Fort St Jean and the entrance to the Vieux Port and north of this are the more recent and modern basins for commercial vessels like Bassin de La Grande Joliette. There are plenty of benches to spend time drinking in the view. This is a popular area and maybe about 10 minutes walk from the old port.

The castle is nice but the most nice thing is the view. You can see both the ocean and the city. Today the castle is used by the university.

We saw the elegant Palace of Pharo, which was built by the architect Lefuel, in the 2nd half of the 19th century.
We learned that the palace’s name is derived from «farot », which designated a hillock that separated the palace from the Mediterranean sea

This building is houses within the grounds of the Jardin Emile Duclaux and is worth going to see because of the sensational views of the harbour within the park. The palace is very grand and overlooks the sea to it's rear but you actually go here for the views rather than the palais which is quite ordinary.

Just a 15min walk from the Old Port, the hill/park where the building is located offers some of the best views of the town / Old Port. Some of the port might be too far away though unless you can zoom in.
I recommend coming for sunset so you get day / sunset / and night views. Also, the building is beautifully illuminated starting around sunset. That alone is going to give you great photos.

From outside the museum garden you get a georgeous scenery…looking down at the port, the cruise ships, the museum and fort
The park is clean and windy. Definitely a must see in Marseilles
Didnt have time to go into the museum

I think the palace is pretty normal and might not be worth visiting if time is tight. Just viewing from outside is enough.

This place is used for a conference hall. A very big hall and many meeting rooms. Feel so honored to have had a chance to WORK in such a pretty environment! Views of The port of Marseille, the fortress and cathedral is beautiful, too. So refreshing. There’s a park on the way to the palace from entrance gate. People are relaxing, playing with kids and running here and there. Local people love this place.
