A huge success

Situated close to the harbour the edifice dominates the skyline. It is massive in every way. It has been under repair for some time.

The visit here was great, very peaceful , actually experience some peace of mind as you move around the church. Find a place to sit, close your eyes, and feel the natural serenity. The inside architecture is so soul warning.

We were in Marseille in last Christmas and visited this place. This is one of the most beautiful Cathedral and important national monument. It was build in 19th century on a site that had been used for various cathedrals for more than thousand years. The flooring was beautiful with mosaic. It has a beautiful golden dome. Overall, it was beautiful... More

The scale of this Cathedral is imposing even in comparison to the forts guarding the harbor. The entrance is at least 4 stories in height. The multi colored marble in Byzantine-Roman style. With a capacity of 3,000 seats, it is one of the largest cathedrals in France. The altar is beautifully gilded in gold with corner legs of griffins

It was under renovation when I visited there, however, it is still worth visiting during sunset for the breathtaking view.

A beautiful cathedral with chandeliers, sculptures and glass worth seeing. However, it is not all open, nor are public toilets available.

This cathedral is much more interesting and beautiful than Notre Dame de la Garde, without it's mind-blowing views, however. The church is full of history, which is documented on several wall panels throughout the apse. There is a museum attached that promises even more; I was unable to visit it. Very close to MuCEM/Fort and Le Panier, so you can... More

Impressive Cathedral but lots of building work going on at the moment. It is however one of Marseille's attractions & it is a nice walk from the Vieux Port.
