Jacque Coustea decorated this chapel. It,s a nice respite from the bustle of the town. Beautiful drawings. 3 euro charge, no photos, but there are plenty of postcards to purchase of every wall.

The small church charges 3 euros and does not allow photos. Take it on with your eyes and buy some postcards if you wish. The interior is covered walls and ceiling with Cocteau sketches. The story is that of St. Peter, but the sense is of a certain era. This is a unique venue and a must for Cocteau pilgrims... More

A gorgeous Romanesque 14th century chapel that has an interesting history. Dedicated to St. Peter, patron of the fishermen. It was a Shrine in the beginning then served as a storeroom for fishing gear In 1957 after numerous stays at a local hotel the writer, filmmaker and painter Jean Cocteau (with the agreement of the fishermen) redecorated the interior and... I can't really add to what has been said. But all the photos sow pretty much the same view from the front, so I thought you should make sure when you are there that you view the chapelle from the bottom of the steps behind it as you emerge from the medieval tunnels.

Decorated by Jean Cocteau in his line type drawings. Depictions of biblical scenes in a contemporary sort of approach rather than traditional. So appealing and refreshing.

We were a group of 7 and the custodian took the time to talk us through the history and individual frescos on the walls of this extraordinary gem.

This was my 3rd visit in Villefranche-sur-mer in the last few years. 3 times I visited the Chapel and I am always fascinated by the decoration by Jean Cocteau. (French Riviera is full of works by Cocteau). It is an absolute must to see chapel.

This is well worth popping into, when it's open. Lovely, quiet place - interior painted/drawn by Cocteau, only 3 euros to get in, but you'll love the imagery which covers the walls and ceiling. There are some books and cards you can buy. Photography is not allowed, and the place is staffed by a guide. Thoroughly recommend as it's quirky... More
