For over 400 years, the Citadel rings the city. Element of the defence of the port the most important between Antibes and Toulon for centuries, it is now one of the few monuments of this magnitude of the Var coast. Proud of its rich maritime past, Saint-Tropez has decided to create a modern museum in the dungeon of the town's citadel, allowing all visitors to discover the daily lives of men and women who shaped over the centuries the Saint-Tropez of today.

The museum opened only 3 years ago; but what a treat! Lots of things to see and to learn, well organized, interesting material and descriptions; the history of the town, the importance of the port over the centuries, life of the fishermen, all about local marine history. One hour is not enough to see and read all the displays. All... More

Recently renovated, interesting facts, the Maritime Museum and if you come out, beautiful views of the surrounding area and the coast. Definitely worth a visit!

The Maritime Museum has been extensively developed since my last visit a few years ago. It is now very impressive - a veritable rabbit warren of connect rooms and exhibitions. It comprehensively tells the story of Saint-Tropez's history and maritime life. Very interesting. Great views from the roof. Good value at €3 admission - under 12's free.

The citadel is a large 17th century stone walled fort on the hill above St. Tropez. Walk up and around this old fortress. It was much less crowded than the town below and a good spot for a picnic or just taking photos.

Nice little climb from the port to the top but little shops along the way. Great view from the top of the harbor and town. Really nice little citadel.

At just €3 a head to visit the maritime museum and to walk around the citadelle, this is very good value for money. The views from the top of the citadelle are breathtaking and the museum is very interesting with well translated English text.

During our tour around St-Tropez, we decided to take the walk up the hill to the old Citadelle. Whilst we did not go into the naval museum we did walk around the old walls. The views of St-Tropez from this vantage point are great and certainly worth the walk.

On our walk along the beachside we stopped at this Citadel. Being one of the outstanding sites of St Trop just behind the harbour. Nice for an evening walk

It was an interesting use of the day time. Additionally, we have made so many beautiful photos and videos! I have really enjoyed the time there and can advice to vist it because of landscape view! The only disadvantage is that it's not so big and nothing actually to do there :-)
