Place des Lices Market is a cool square. We ended up in here after visiting the Citadel of Saint-Tropez - Museum of Maritime History. We enjoyed watching people paying petanque.

A must-visit if you are in St. Tropez when the market is happening. Tons of bric-a-brac for sure but lots of other nice handmade items and delicious foods for sale. In particular, at one stall, a couple produces sparkling beaded bracelets in a variety of colors that make perfect gifts for friends. La Bistouquette is another not-to-miss stall! The little saucissons (pricks!) they produce in a multitude of flavors are TOTALLY addictive! If you want to assemble the perfect picnic, this is your destination. There are far more stalls than we expected!

Nice square, with a lot of restaurants, but overall the town is overloaded with tourists, who all walk the same route, and see the same things. Drive allong the coast (for istance to marseille) to see much quiter and equally (better?) towns with a tenth of the tourists!

Some great stuff, some not so great stuff. Possibly best for fresh fruit, vegetables. Lovely colours in the market, but it gets very busy.

After 1 hour and 25 minutes drive from ‘La foux’ we finally arrived at the car park. 43 minutes later we could find a parking space, the car park is very busy with selfish b@stards parked over 2 bays or who just decided to abandon their car where it suited them. This car park, btw, is one of the worst I have seen. Then the market on place des lices ... a gentle 20 minutes walk later we arrived at the market ... full of clothe, rubbish and fakes form India or China, hardly anything from Provence, just a couple of stalls with locally produced fruits and veg. Be aware of pickpockets and of snobs on their annual social pilgrimage. Trying to find a table for a drink is as easy as trying to stroke a dinosaur. Then we left and after paying around 20 euro we had to queue another 1 hour 15 to get to ‘La foux’ then another 50 minutes to Sainte-Maxine. If you want to waste your time, waste your money and spend hours in your car this is the place to go. Honestly ... people are freaks for recommending such a Sh@thole. Never ever again.

On Tuesday and Saturday morning in Saint Tropez. This is a fantastic cozy market which sells a huge range of foods including bread, pastries, cheese, sausages, flowers, olives, spices, herbs, fruit and vegetables.

We expected a market in this posh location to be super expensive - but we were very pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was! We mainly looked at the clothing & second hand products as we were travelling so unable to buy food to prepare (although the food produce looked amazing)! We love a good market & this is one of the better that we've seen - a very good size, great variety & a good location. Unlike so many other tourist attractions around the Côte d'Azur - we easily found secure & spacious parking closeby.

visited St.Tropez on a day trip organised by my cruise ship; after a tour of the harbour and surrounds i visited the market and must say the cheese in particular on offer was out of this world..yes you do get free samples by some of the friendly stallholders and i was soon getting stuck into a homemade quiche which surpassed anything you can buy in the UK. The market is basically split into two sections with the food on the right as you approach from the harbour whilst the 'hardware' is on the left side, the whole market is positioned within beautiful trees and is a must to visit.People watching is mandatory as you never know Mick or Brigitte might just be wandering around.

What is the best way to get from Villefranche or Nice to St Tropez. It would not be on a date the ferry goes from Nice to St Tropez. It would be on a Wednesday.
I would like a taxi or car as we will have luggage. Thanks, Baylorgirl

Hi. We are doing the boat trip from Nice to St Tropez for the day on our next holiday. Can you confirm how far away the market is from the boat terminal where we are dropped off in St Tropez please? We will be walking.
