We been there today on electric scooters from our hotel. We rented 2 scooters for myself and my friend. We thought we won't make it till the top because the road was steep uphill. But fortunately me made it and the view from the top of fort is fantastic. We stay there for a while just to thank god for giving us such a beautiful nature.

Catch tram from Nice central. get off at Garrabaldi square. Use same ticket to take bus to Ville Franche. Walk back towards Princess Grace Memorial. Look for stairs on the hill. Short journey on stairs. then a lovely walk under tree shade all the way to the Fort. To go back to Nice continue to walk down past the Fort to the next main road and catch a bus back to Nice

We took the number 14 bus from Rue Gioffreddo in Nice centre (see timetable), get off at Chemin du Fort and you can walk up to the fort. Beautiful views of Nice on one side and Villefranche and Cap Ferrat on the other. It was a rainy day when we went so I can imagine how stunning it would be on a sunny day. You can then walk down into Villefranche - look out for a dirt track on your left just as you're starting to walk back down from the fort to where the bus stopped. It's a bit of a rough track, pebbly and dirty but you can walk right the way down into Villefranche. We then got the train back to Nice - 2 stops and a couple of Euro.

Nice view on Villefranche, good for picknicks, lots of potential, i would make a hotel out of this castle. Strange people hanging around here.

well worth the climb to get above Nice and coast to east looking down on Villefrance . The Fort is dramatic in its own right commanding the coast

In itself nothing special as Vauban designed forts go, but it does command fantastic views across to Villefranche-sur-mer and Cap Ferrat, inland to the Alps and back to Nice and the Esterel. A short drive out of Nice or a very pleasant walk if you have a bit of stamina.

If you’re headed for Nice, you -have- to take this trip. Don’t take a bus or taxi/Uber, walk the entire distance! It’s so beautiful to look at the view as you ascend to the top. Many nice houses, and beautiful gardens.

The view from the top is really beautiful!

A spectacular view from this panoramic spot. We were among many climbing the steps up to this scenic point. Well worth it!
