This place reaaaly needs new employees. There was this girl who gave us a place to sit. We said can we order a drink, she said no I don’t take orders and walked away. 20 min later someone finally came and after that we got our drink. The food was ok but it is not normal to almost stand up and wave for attention and still not get any. Also we ordered food and a bottle of water but never got the water. In front of us there was a couple who walked away because no one came to them after 15 min. Really bad, please hire more people.

This is a wonderful experience for brocante lovers, there's plenty of variety and bargains too. We spent the morning staring at amazing finds, bartering with very patient and courteous traders and came home with fabulous souvenirs of this great market. I recommend a visit and you should take the time to chat and see what you find... Frequent the local cafés for a little rest and then dive back in, you won't be disappointed, we're already planning a return visit.

Yesterday morning I visited the marché à la brocante in Nice. Unfortunately I was disappointed. In the past I remembered quality objects and expert dealers. Apart from a few pieces by Baccarat, Lalique and Daume, which could be counted on the fingers of one hand, I found myself among an infinite number of cutlery and objects by Cristofle, goods offered at choice at 20 or 50 euros, items of vintage clothing, old designer handbags, as well as scarves and ties. I therefore preferred to dedicate the time to visiting the wonderful old Nice and taking a walk to discover the antique shops in the port area.

We stopped here for lunch and were served by a charming waiter, Nico. Our pizza was absolutely lovely topped with good quality ham and a spaghetti bolognese we had was very filling and tasty. It was so relaxing here although the restaurant was quite busy. It had a friendly atmosphere and we just relaxed with an Aperol Spritz each. We will definitely be returning to Les Ponchettes when next in Nice.

We really enjoyed this. We got an early morning coffee and then went and had a look at this not long after they had set up. Found on or two things but was more so going for the experience. Got busier as the day went on so I’d suggest going first thing If you are morning people.

Food is everything but special. Service is at first sight polite, just until you order since I guess there is no turning back. Due to the location it is not affordable which would be fine if at least it was good. But it was NOT. We got the feeling that it wasn't a very hygienic place and towards the end we were charged more than what we ordered. All in all it was a bad experience from beginning to end. Don't make the same mistake we did as to sitting down at the first restaurant we saw since it was raining a bit and it looked "nice".

Many people retire to the French Riviera so clearing up estates should be a profitable profession. Still many of the vendors at the Monday Antique market lament that tourists only take pictures. The variety of articles is wide - paintings, pots, tableware, vintage jewellery, both costume and real, posters and other collectibles, handembroidered linen, furniture, ancient brass objects. Even if you are not a connosseur of art you can pick some memento of your Mediterranean holiday for 10 euros. Browsing the stalls filling the Flower market square is certainly good entertainment and can be educative too.

The antique market has turned more into vintage concentrating mainly on costume jewellery, leather bags, silk scarves and household items from the latter half of 20th century making the prices also more affordable. Linen tableclothes and sheets can be found in abundance but the selection of vintage costumes is quite poor, mainly polyester and not actually old. Real antique collectors items, porcelain, silver, gold jewellery, paintings are also sold here but well informed customers don't anymore buy expensive pieces so easily.
