A vast square named after the famous Italian general and patriot, actually born in Nice when it was in France, before going backwards and forwards a time or two between Italy and France, where it is for the time being ….
There’s an imposing statue and the square is surrounded by fabulous old buildings, with a view of the mountains on one side.
The Sunday market was on, adding to the gaiety of the square.

A nice square with restaurants and cafes nearby. There is also a major tram stop as well. Pigeons and smokers galore but is expected. You could just walk around and spend an hour or two here easily! Just around the corner is the inn where Napoleon slept over for a night.

Nice is not a seat friendly city. You are ‘forced’ to sit in a cafe. Garibaldi Square is a delightful hub. Mercury cinema in the corner. Tram 1 and 2 at the square. Lots of cafes on the square. Most be delightful in summer. I was there at Carnaval when there was a giant panda overlooking the square’s movements.

Old place with interesting history, but with a huge concrete producing machinery set up in the middle...at all times there are at least two trucs waiting nearby to collect concrete...very noisy and plenty of car fumes. Much better to walk elsewhere, to the Galery de Laffayette and the street leading to central station.

A nice square to visit in Nice. Usually convenient to take the Bus for Monaco and VIllefranche and Eze. Not a very touristy place but can see the life of people living in Nice.

between 6 and 8 pm all the brasseries offer wine and beer for only €2, if this is not a good reason to enjoy the marvelous trompe-oeil façades!

If you get off the tram at this stop and look down to your right-providing you got off the tram heading for Pont Michel-there is a maze of narrow shopping streets and cafes-great place to spend an afternoon strolling around many interesting shops to be seen and alot of quality items to be found-this is "local shopping at its best".

I love the fact its transformed in the 10 years after about 4 big reconstructions. From being a traffic clogged dump its now a shady hub . Reminiscent of the arcades of Torino, reminds you that Nice is still really italian at heart. 13 cafes/bars at last count and great lighting effects. Thankyou Estrosi. Cappa Pattiserie and Cafe de La Place are worth a visit. And its at the bottom of my drive. A BIG PLUS.
