Second trip here. First time the auditorium where there art 3 glowing windows was closed. I always associated Chagall with posters in dorm rooms. In the face of the originals, this pales. Audio guide useful to me and easy to use. Song of Solomon room colours vibrate.

A beautiful, purpose-built museum for admiring Chagall's wonderful biblical message paintings. There is ample room for reflection and benches throughout to sit and admire the artworks. The audio guide is very useful and enlightening. I also watched the film about Chagall's life which was illuminating and touching. Allow at least a couple of hours to soak it up. There is... More

A purpose-built brutalist building with a spacious white interior shows off a stunning collection of large colour filled masterpieces. Each of the major works deserves very careful study and reflection. There is a side section reminiscent of a Lady Chapel, devoted to the Song of Songs - extremely romantic - and some super stained glass in the adjacent auditorium. Worth... More

A very mixed experience. The art was great and I particularly enjoyed the film about Chagall's fascinating life. After that things went a bit downhill. The cafe looked as if it had seen better days and needed a deep clean, and the proprietor's habit of wandering around with a lit cigarette didn't bother me but might put some off eating... More

The museum contains 17 paintings conveying Chagall's Biblical Message and a mural. If you are interested in this aspect of his work, then it is good as the pictures are well laid out. For 10 Euro admission you get a good audio guide as well as a admission. There is a café and a shop.

France has no shortage of museums and it can be difficult to decide which ones to see. If you find yourself in Nice, the Musee Chagall is a must.

Three of us visited this museum and were very pleasantly surprised. The religious paintings of the Old Testament were stunning! Avoid the outside cafe though, very expensive for what is on offer, and that isn't very much!

I am not a typical 'art lover' - but I enjoyed this museum very much. Having Chagall's paintings on biblical themes all presented together I found breath-taking, and quite moving. I was also very impressed with the sheer beauty of the building itself. All in all, for someone that does not normally 'do art, it was enlightening and accessible. I... More

The National Museum Marc Chagall is located on a hillside in Nice, and displays 15 big paintings based on the Holy Bible. Chagall has the ability of combining new and old in one frame. By drawing the main picture on the middle of the canvas, Chagall adds two or three senses at the upper and lower corners of the canvas... More

The Chagall museum is located high above the great city of Nice The tribute to Chagall with its fine display of some of his work is superbly laid out in a modern building of some quality There is a very good lecture theatre in the museum where we went to hear an excellent baroque trio It's well worth more than...
