The museum hosts a great variety of exhibitions. The space is wide, and walking around is pleasant. It is worth a visit on a rainy day.

A monumental building at the end of a park houses modern and contemporary art. The art is well displayed and well lit. The wall labels are helpful to varying degrees. There are places to sit and rest. The displays include sculpture as well as painting, and also three-dimensional installations. It is well worth a visit.

Slap in the middle of roadworks - rather depressing inside too. Very tired. Needs a little bit of a face lift.

I’ve been to museums all my life all over the world and this was the worst experience of them all.

The staff were unwelcoming or unhelpful and that’s before setting foot in the museum.

Whilst queueing they told people in the queue they were not allowed backpacks inside. They said we were not allowed to use the lockers either. People with large hand bags or shopping back were allowed in. No explanation was given for this. I explained I needed my backpack because it contained things for my small child, but they didn’t care.

Nothing about this rule on the museum website. Someone next to us said they’d even went inside earlier in the day too ask if a back pack was allowed and they’d been told yes. Many people were were turned away. Many people were surprised. One of our party took out bags back to our hotel. Once inside the museum we saw lots of people with not only with large bags but also rucksacks. When we left they were admitting some people with backpacks.

The staff inside the museum were agressive when telling people to stand back from the art installations. To be fair it really wasn’t clear how far back to stand because the art was all over the floor, no lines were drawn on the floor to indicate the limit. No visitor was being disrespectful.

I saw one member of staff telling a small child off, and whilst doing so touching the art themselves.

There is only one set of toilets and these were dirty with no hand towels or other ways of drying your hands.

The café was disappointingly closed. I think that’s were maybe another set of toilets were, but since that whole floor was shut, they weren’t accessible.

There was an awful lot of unused space. It all seemed quite run down.

I do not recommend this museum

I gave it 2 out of 5 because I personally enjoyed some of the art, but that is subjective. If I knew how badly run this museum was I wouldn’t have gone despite some interesting art.

Even if you aren't a lover of modern art there are some really interesting pieces on display; definitely worth a visit to enjoy the fabulous views from the observation deck.

I felt quite overwhelmed when visiting this museum: it hovers around the edges of "art-not art" dilemma for those like me who do not have in depth knowledge of contemporary art. Some of the exhibits were truly beyond my understanding. Yet, I nevertheless liked the visit. I happened to learn about artists like Yves Klein and started ever since track his art works everywhere. The museum is pretty large, it takes almost half a day to visit it. It's not crowded at all so you can take your time. The roof garden is a must see to have a city view of Nice.

This is my least favorite of the Modern art museums that I have visited. It is always worth going for the rooftop view but the art will not be for everybody.

Really enjoyed this museum as there was plenty to see. It was a great way to spend two hours. The pop art section was particularly impressive.

A real disappointment, though we did enjoy the walk there from the old town and it’s an interesting building from a design point of view.
Pop Art had one Warhol and a couple of Rauschenbergs and not much more of interest.
Mildly amused to see a painting that reminded us of A Monty Python sketch!
Best bit was the undersold roof terrace, which was actually a 360° undulating steel walkway to give a wonderful panoramic view of Nice.

Really liked the Museum, I especially wanted to go to se the Yves Klein 'Blue'. Its not a big Museum, we got around in about an hour, the views at the top over the city were gorgeous, and an added treat :)
