Quiet little city, good weather in June, pretty clean, lots of walking, very expensive shopping.
No real need to rent a car if you don't mind walking.
Cannes, France was the second port of call in our western Mediterranean cruise.
We arrived at 8am, we got ferried to the port by 9:30am.
Walked from the port to notre dame de l'esperance, this was our path:
boulevard du midi jean hibert to rue jean dollfus
took a break in square mistral, there's a water faucet in the park to wash our faces
continued north on rue jean dollfus then on tiny street rue hibert then rue louis perrisol, rue de la castre all the way up to the church. Hang out went up the "wall" to take pictures of the city, went into the church gardens and sat on a bench and had a small brunch we had packed.
Decided to walk through the neighborhood alleys via rue coste corail winding all the way down through alleys and small streets to rue du dr pierre gazagnaire.
Went into the farmers market around 1pm and looked around for 30mins then walked out of the back of it.
Walked down rue louis blanc and turned into rue meynadier, this is where there's a lot of the budget shopping is at this walk was about 1/4 mile.
Walked down to rue d'antibes, this is where the very expensive shop are at, so we window shop for 1/2 mile taking a break once in awhile.
Walked down rue frederic amouretti to water front boulevard de la criosette. Just before arriving to the waterfront a guy tried to scam us out of 20 eruos by dropping a "gold" ring right in front of us, he decided to "gift us" the gold ring and demanded a tip for 20 euros we politely said you keep the ring, he was not happy about it and left.
Continued walking east on boulevard de la criosette and took a break in this little park, got a cold drink, and my wife got a very delicious pina colada, we also ate a small appetizer and very good gelatto.
Decided to walk on the waterfront to look at very expensive yachts in jetee albert edouard.
Followed the waterfront all the way around into the port where we started.
Went down the beach took our shoes off and got our legs wet and sat on the concrete steps and rested for awhile before boarding back on the cruise.
Pros: clean, mild weather, No street vendors! no one selling you selfie sticks! lots of walking, no street performers, no homeless or beggars. Public restrooms are around green belts and park areas.
Cons: lots of walking, expensive shops.

We wanted to take a tour in the festival palace. When we asked if it was possible the woman said that the only tour was in French that day so there was no tour for us. I then had to ask myself when the next tour in English was and she answered very short that today was the last day. No more information. The day after they started to renovate the building behind roadblocks and removed the red carpet. We didn’t even get a picture the week we visited. If we had known that we probably would have participated on the French spoken tour just to get to see the building and take our photograph on the red carpet. Think it was a shame that the tourist information didn’t inform us of the work, and that the service was bad.

Have a lovely colouring area for children, but they threw away my daughters pic and wouldn't fetch it for us even though she was very upset. All Staff denied clearing it even though it had clearly been reset as we left for 5 minutes. Not very helpful and now have to deal with a very upset toddler

This large bureau is ready to assist you in many languages and staff. You need to clear security before entering, surprisingly, but that was not an issue. Impressed with the scale and calibre of this info centre!

I am traveling from the USA on May 12 to attend the Cannes Film Festival. What is the best way to get from the Nice Airport to Cannes? Is there a train? Should I fly to Paris instead and take a train from the airport?
Thank you for your help.

We are staying at 56 avenue, De noaiĺles Cannes, in April, please can you suggest a really nice restaurant for 16 people in this area, also would their be anywhere we could do wine tasting, thank you

Sorry, I can’t recommend a restaurant, but can recommend an amazing crêperie! It’s called La Bigoudene...delicious, authentic, sweet and savoury crepes from Breton, which is the crepe region of France! If you’re staying at a hotel or other, I’m sure a local would have a couple recommendations for you! Enjoy Cannes!

We would like to catch a train or bus from Cannes to Monte Carlo. Where can I get a schedule of transportation + # of Euros?
Written 25 August 2017
the best option is by train via Nice and the railway station in Cannes is only a few blocks back from the seafront
the French site for french railways is the SNCF or you can try rail Europe if not.
When we stayed in Nice we used this line to come to Cannes and go to Monte Carlo its a lovely ride along the coast
enjoy

Will be in Cannes for 1 day. On a cruise ship. Would like to know if I could find a good hair stylist near the port where the cruise ships enter?
Written 24 March 2015
Hello Flossy !
There are many hair stylists in Cannes, in the Rue des Etats-Unis.
We also can advise you to go to ITSI-Ban, in the Bivouac Napoléon street, next to the Palais des Festivals.
Don't hesitate to come at the tourist office to get a map and more information.
We hope that you'll enjoy your stay in Cannes !
Best Regards,
