This is an oasis of calm and tranquility so close to the hustle of Cannes and the Riviera. A very short ferry ride fro Cannes takes you out to the island owned and run by monks. Lovely walk round the island - mostly shady among the pine trees with great views of Cannes and the Riviera. Takes about 2 hour... More

Just a short ferry ride away from the hustle and bustle of Cannes is this lovely, peaceful Island owned and inhabited by 22 Benedictine monks. You can stroll by the vineyards, climb the tower once used to defend the island, and visit the shop where the wines and liqueurs produced by the monks are sold. It's an absolutely beautiful way... 1/2 hour sailing Witherspoon a small Ferry. Nice and very quiet Island. Only walking. Very speciel Are the wineyards Witherspoon several different grapes. Take the status to the top of the old cementere. There is a brilliant Wiev over the island and french coastline. Take a look insider the Church and the store where the homemade wine for sale together... More

It was a train ride a ferry from Nice, but what a picturesque place. Loved the church and the fortified monastery. Such solitude and beauty. Be warned they shut down from 12 noon to 2, so keep that in mind when planning your time that you will not be allowed in the buildings during that period. Great snorkelling off the... More

We walked round the island and it was absolutely stunning. Although very hot the island's trees offer a lot of shade. I'd recommend visiting the monastry's fort which has a stunning view of cannes and the island (and it's free!). We were going to buy a sandwich at the deli but we're very disappointed. The food looked horrible and inedible.... More

Pre booked sitting for lunch with friends having motored over by boat from Golfe Juan Took sometime before we were shown to a table outside The restaurant was busy but not every table occupied Loads of staff who seemed to be stood around doing not very much Lots of dirty used plates and glasses were left in piles near the... What a beautiful place. It is so small that it is easy to walk around the whole island. The fortified monastery is amazing. The stairs to each level were easy to climb, and the views were fantastic. The weather was perfect and the gentle sea breeze felt like a life-giving elixir. A few hours is long enough to see everything.

This was one of those "off the beaten path" experiences. We are glad we did it. Ferry tickets can be purchased on-line in advance. It's a really nice way to spend some time out of the fray of the city. We did this while we were visiting Cannes during the Film Festival and it was a welcome reprieve from the... More

I highly recommend a trip by ferry to Ile Saint Honorat while in Cannes (or anywhere along the Côte d'Azur). Once there, the island is small enough to enjoy a leisurely, level stroll. Be sure and allocate some time for a little food and beverage in the island's restaurant. The monks who inhabit the island have been there for over... More

Once you have checked out the four isles de Lerins by jet boat or cruiser, you owe it to yourself to come back to Saint-Honorat, considering its only a 15 minute ferry ride from Cannes. So does the piety of Cistercian monks deserve a visit, even if they live frugally?... hell, yea, because their orthodoxy allows the tending and producing... More
