Having heard a lot about the French tank museum at Saumur and having visited Bovington tank museum in the UK on a number of occasions, I decided it was time to travel a little further afield. The museum is easily accessible from the centre of Saumur either by walking or local bus. Home to the worlds only still running Tiger... More

Took my grandson there for his 21st birthday on 9th January this year. He is mad keen on all aspects of tanks and seems to know all about every one of them. Had great time it would have been a better experience if there had been someone to talk to about the tanks but had a hood time all the... More

A great selection of Tanks. Some modern and a few rare"white Elephants" Government wished they had never built. Global representation so not too many French pieces.

Unique collection of particularly French tanks and German WW2 tanks. Well laid out museum, plenty of room for the exhibits making photography easy. Exhibits are cleverly displayed, information on each in dual language, clear and concise. Information leaflets are very good. Well stocked shop with books, models, clothes, toys, souvenirs and staff very helpful and friendly. Slightly difficult to find... More

Different section with different themes, not only French tanks but fom all ages untill now from all around world. An interesting and comprehensive array of military vehicles from those used in the Great War to the present day. Displayed in chronological order you get a good idea how tanks especially have developed over time.

Huge selection of tanks and armour from WWI onto present day. It is a self guided tour with displays in French, German and English. It is laid out in chronological order giving a good idea of how tanks evolved over time. Some real unique stuff and anyone with an interest in WWI or WWII would love it. Worthwhile paying the... This museum houses what must be one of the most amazing collections of military vehicles in the world. Almost every kind of tank you might see in historical pictures can be found here, all under one roof. Forget all the fake tanks found in many movies - these are the real deal. If you are a history enthusiast you will... More

Most amassing collection of tanks and other fighting vehicles you could wish to find. Gives a great perspective on the development of both the Armour and armaments with some very early European specimens. Go round with someone who is interested as this is not a place to rush.

Excellent armoured vehicle collection. Some amazing and very rare vehicles to see, child friendly and a great way to spend hours looking at these wonderful and well maintained AFVs. Got to be one of the best colections of historic vehicles anywhere in the world. Only complaint would be the prices in the shop....... expensive would be an understatement.
