Historic place, center of the city, built by the shipowners in the eithies. Built on soft land, like Venise, on wood piles. So you will see that some of the buildings are inclined..

Surprising gorgeous little walk through cobbled streets with nice shops and restaurants, the best is the beautiful architecture and the peaceful pedestrian stroll - look for the well known Nantes mascarons (faces and masks in buildings)

After our lunch at La Poisonnerie (highly recommended!) we walked the small streets of this traditional part of town - combining modern and wide with old and narrow streets. Nice and relaxed outdoor atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon.

Pleasant, historic setting: I'm sure that Nantes now regrets moving the river! It's still possible to make out the edges of the old island.

Very nice quarter in the center of Nantes with beautiful buildings dating from the 18the century. It was once an island on the river Loire and today it is very well preserved part of the city with the atmosphere of the old times.

Thank Borzov
