Well worth a visit. Steeped in French and English history. Lots of information available about the fortress; very educational. Picnic area and cafe available. Most importantly there is an outside lift to the fortress (there are lots of steps to get there) hence no excuse...More

We entered and did a half hour walk around the walls and remaining buildings including climbing the clock tower. Nothin unique or remarkable. It looks much more impressing from the outside then when you are inside.

The fortress is situated on a hill above the relatively small town of Chiron. The first impression is that of a typical castle ruin. However, the area is quite sizeable and they did a good job providing all kinds of interesting information and little bits...More

Stunning view from the tower. Many attractions for kids, behind the ticket office there is a place where the kids dress like knights, archery, playing with a mace free of charge.

We spent an interesting few hours exploring this French medieval fortress, renowned for it's linkage with Joan of Arc. King Charles VII lived in the Chinon Castle from 1427 to 1450 where Joan met him and implored him to give her an army as she...More
