This gothic looking Court House is still in activity. Located in the heart of the City, you can still see the impacts of the machine guns from WW2 on the walls.

As this is still a “working” building it isn’t a tourist attraction per se, but it is one of the standout buildings in the city centre and well worth a look. The architecture is beautiful and incredibly intricate.

Amazing detail, a quick view does it no justice. You should spend at least an hour to take in all the detail and skill of the masons that did it

Originally walked along the back and the holes from Allied bombing and made sense during the fighting for France war means needless damage. Vast building showing the wealth of the city.

This is one of the most beautiful and impressive historic buildings in town and definitely should be included in your walking tour. Accessible from the train station where we arrived.

Very elegant building, although you are kept at a distance by railings. Still, this does mean that you get a good view. Small detour from the centre of the Old Town

The “Palace of Justice” in the city of Rouen, is a “Courthouse” built in between the years 1495 and 1525 and this in the Louis XII style.
But formerly the “Chessboard” of Normandy, is one of the most emblematic monuments of the Norman capital 1. It has housed the house the Parloir aux Bourgeois and the former Chessboard of Normandy, afterwoods it became to be the Parliament of Normandy under the reign of Francis I, in the year 1515, before acting as courthouse from the French Revolution.

Now! this is a building to be seen. You would have thought it was a palace fit for a King etc. But it is one of the most magnificent building in Rouen and when you think about it, it probably was THE most important place in its time, except for the Churches of course. I didn't expect this to be so ornate and huge ,. A wonderfull place

This is a great building very close to the cathedral, worth passing on both side, but the side to see is the one with the courtyard, and in rue aux juifs, i.e. where the Jews lived before being expelled. Underneath the courtyard rests of a Jews building, possibly a torah school, have been found, but nothing can be see of that. The building is still in used, and thus only the outside can be appreciated.
