This is funky ally that terminates at a plaza in front of the Church of Saint-Maclou. Beware there can be local automobile traffic nudging you along but by and large it is pedestrian, a delightful walk past porcelain crafters, stone carvers, bakers, cafes and other nifty artisan shops. Plan on spending about 45 minutes from one end to the other and make sure you end at the church so you can continue on to Rouen's market square and the Seine, if so inclined.

Rue Saint-Romain is a street that if you spend several days in Rouen, you will find yourself walking down it often. After all, it is the street alongside the cathedral. But in its own right, there are things to explore on this street. First and foremost, the most famous teahouse in the city, Dame Cakes, is there. And there is high end shopping - two Faience shops and various antique stores and such.
The newest thing to open there is Historial Jeanne d'Arc, my favorite new attraction in Rouen. A great little street, no question.

The buildings surrounding this square is beautiful and made me think I was in Germany instead of France. There's lots to see, including the spot nearby where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.

Rue Saint-Romain is a street located in the old town of Rouen, a very beautiful and important city in Normandie region, in the North part of France. If you walk here, you can see some wonderful and old buildings, so it is very interesting to see the facades of them. Also, it is a pedestrian street as almost all streets in old town. So, it is perfecr if you came here with children. Very nice.

Back from D-Day landing areas on Normandy shores, we enjoyed our stopover at Rouen.
Within the amazing old city the pedestrian streets are truly nice: well preserved half-timbered houses built during the Middle Ages are seen around the central market square and cathedral areas. St Romain street is beautiful. Shops, French and international brands restaurants are available.

Really gorgeous to see at night. We walked it after a delicious dinner at Les Marchers (highly recommend).

I went to Rouen recently with my son and we visited the Historial de Jeanne D'Arc on Rue Saint Romain. This is a new attraction having only be open for a week or so and is well worth a visit. As with many of of the best museums in France it brings history to life in a very creative way, retelling the story of Joan of Arc's trial and retrial on the very spot where they happened. My 13 year old son, who is not normally excited by medieval history, was impressed - a recommendation in itself! As part of the tour you get to see some of the rooms of the Archbishop's Palace too. The tour lasts just over an hour and headset translators are available in a number of different languages.

It's convenient to everything but a little noisy :) Since everyone passes by here to get between the two cathedrals, I hear all languages throughout the day as the tour guides pass by.

Situated in the heart of the city and lined with Rouen’s iconic brightly painted half-timbered buildings, Rue Saint-Romain is certainly one of the most beautiful streets in the old town. It is probably the most used as it runs alongside the cathedral and follows down to the other beautiful church, Eglise Saint Maclou.

Rue Saint Romain runs through the very city center by the imposing Cathedral. It's an old medieval street with terrific edifices, half timbered houses and cute artisan stores, cafes and eateries.
