If you love the Impressionist Painters this is a must see. See the works of pre-impressionist painters and experience their influence on artists like Monet and Van Gogh.
Recommend you buy "Le Pass Musees" that gets you into 4 museums, within walking distance of each other. Get the full history of Honfleur.

Recommended for those interested in the predecessors of Impressionism. An unexpected learning experience, as we learned how Monet came to Honfleur, and about his pre-impressionist mentors.

Really well worth a visit, not only for Honfleur painter Boudin, but other painters as well, among which the great Dutch painter Jongkind, not so well known but an example to Monet.

The Boudin museum in Honfleur is a show case for the work of Boudin who was a friend of Monet 's and worked alongside him painting views of the Normandy coast
The museum is small and not properly advertised -the tourist info implies there are lots of Impressionist paintings there including Monets - but really it is about Budin and his colleague Duborg ( a discovery for me)
But Boudin is a wonderful painter - so go and enjoy !

The Museum is bigger than I had anticipated and has an interesting collection. It does not have as many Boudin paintings as I had hoped, but I was still glad that I had visited.

It's a nice gallery, not what we expected; but worth the visit. The audio guide is not worth the 2 euros so save your money. The staff was very friendly.

A wonderful opportunity to explore the eccentricities of this great French composer. Have visited twice and would probably go again.

This rather small museum has a good collection of paintings, most related to the area somehow, with a focus on the pre-impressionists like Eugene Boudin, who was born in Honfleur, and Jongkind. To be honest, the collection at Le Havre is significantly better, with many impressionist paintings as well. The paintings are very nicely displayed, but could do with somewhat more explanations. There is also a collection of prints and drawings, displayed per painter.

Musee Eugene Boudin is located in Honfleur, a very beautiful town in the coast of Normandy, in France. In this museum, you can see some paintings of this artist and also some others. It is a little museum and there are not a lot of artworks. I came here with my daughter (3 years old in December-2018) and she enjoyed a lot in some rooms, because there are a zone for children. Nice.
