I really like this area of Manitoba and who would think there is a LOCK in the priarie region? Well nuff said, there are a few nice places to eat in this area and do prepare yourself with a good pair of runners. The area is well spread out with a long bridge over the locks.

We stopped to look at the dam and were fortunate. To have the lone employee come out and explain everything to us.

Found out my brother's family had learned to fish in the past few years. As we had never gone fishing before, they decided to take us to Lockport with them late one Sun afternoon. From Winnipeg we drove northeast and after a brief detour to Selkirk (Marine Museum of Manitoba) we then headed to St Andrews Lock and Dam. We... More

It's a good place to catch a assortment of fish. There has been a lot done the past few years in regards to cleaning up the river banks. Noticeable improvement on the amount of garbage that has been picked up. There is also garbage cans located in many places along the river banks. If people would just pick up after... More

Nice place to drive to, lots of good fishing for big cats on the red. If you fish you should definitely experience it. Otherwise a nice place to take a drive

We were lucky enough to be in attendance when the locks were being used. Hard to believe this bridge was built at least 50 years ago and the only change to it has been the bridge surface. Very interesting, but breezy. Pelicans were awesome, as were the fish that were jumping that day.

Lots to see here, the dam in action. Lots of people fishing off the shore and on boats. Pelicans everywhere, hoping that someone will clean their fish and leave some for them. They can be quite daring at times, coming and stealing a whole fish, so watch where you leave any catch. Beautiful drive down River Rd in St. Andrews... More

Very interesting to see the Lock and Dam. Nice park, tons of pelicans and people fishing downstream. A nice visit.

Not much there really, other than the locks, but it's a nice drive from the city. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

St. Andrews Lock and Dam features a historic site and museum, several dining options and several park areas near the river. There is a great farmers market every Sunday from 12-5 in the summer months. This is a popular fishing spot for both locals and tourists alike.
