A very bright, lovely simple interior, with a few brilliant highlights. The stained-glass by the altar, magnifique! And there above, a ceiling painting To mistily the imagination. Peaceful.

An absolute must: a delightful church, with an extraordinarily simple and elegant architecture, with several elements of note (have a look at the stoup in the entrance, the figures of the capitals, the ancient chapels), attesting to a millenia of religious devotion. Next to lovely,...More

On the edge of the city centre this is the sister Abbey of the Abbaye aux hommes. Commissioned by Queen Matilda, wife of William the Conqueror it is now her resting place. Mostly undamaged in the d-day battle it is worth a visit but is...More

This church is very light and well-maintained. It looks to be 100 years old rather than 1,000. Queen Matilda is buried here.

There appeared to be not very much to see at this Abbey. Queen Mathilde's grave is there but covered by either glass or perspex not sure which which reflect light from the main windows behind it so you cannot really see it properly. Lovely ceilings...More

This Abbey is a little bit of a walk from downtown but worth it if you have time. Its very minimalist inside, and I was the only one in there when I went.

The Abbaye now houses the town administration so we did not see inside. However the Église abbatiale de la Trinité was open and houses the tomb of William the Conquerer's Queen. The whole complex and park are beautiful.

This is an attraction that depicts the grave of the wife of William, the Conqueror, and so it is full of joy. There are guided tours in the afternoon, however if you go there in the morning you will most likely have the whole place...More
