This is a fascinating Museum with a vast array of exhibitions, displays and films. It does not glorify War in any way, but rather shows the experiences of everyone living through those terrible years, whether in the trenches, on the home fronts, the evacuees, resistance, collaboraters etc. etc. The information panels are all in French/German/English. There were guided tours and... More

Thie museum covers all aspects of the Normandy Invasion from the politics leading to the war to General Richelieu's bunker, over which the museum is built. It tells the story of the need, plans, and execution of the invasion, including all perspectives, and even the design of the building contributes to the effect. This is a big museum. I started... We visited Caen mainly because we want to spend 2 days at the museum, what a disappointment that we finished in 5 hours. The museum has little display and not much content, I would prefer the Bayeux Museum.

What an experience, very moving and very well done. The customer service is welcoming and multi-lingual. The memorial gardens are breath taking. Don' t miss the movie and take time to walk through and experience the memorial completely (min 2 hours).

A must do when in Normandy. The entire family was captivated by the great display. The objects presented are really fascinating.

If you have all the time in the world, and the inclination to do so, you could spend weeks, or even months visiting the historic sights in the Normandy area. But with limited time, you have to decide what is best and choose among many attractions. The Caen Memorial was interesting and entertaining. It tried to show the causes of... More

Caen is situated in lower Normandy in northwest France. Historically, it is the city of William the Conqueror who was buried there - hence its historical significance -the buildings built during his reign. Unfortunately the old city of Caen was mostly destroyed by heavy fighting during the Battle for Caen (WW2) in June1944 (70th Anniversary D-Day Normandy 2014). The city... More

It is heartbreaking to see all the horror, but if you not know your histories, you can not help the future.
