A really good collection of religious arts and of course a mini show on Napoleon. During our vist there was an interactive exhibition on a French comic author intertwined into the historic exhibits. If Paris is too far away, Lille gives you a great alternative for the Louvre.

We stopped here in the afternoon and didn't have as much time as we would've liked although we did get a discount for the afternoon arrival. Its a really nice museum, my boyfriend was really excited by the town models, only wish we'd had more time to explore a bit more

There are a lot of different items on exhibition over several floors are sections of a large impressive building. Chances are there is something you will enjoy. If you are an Arts/Museum enthusiast, this could easily fill a whole day. Cost was reasonable.

This gallery contains a truly surprising number of magnificent paintings by the great Masters, in addition to smaller collections of sculptures and artifacts. For us, however, the highlight was the collection of restored models of fortress cities, housed in the basement. There is also a fascinating short-term exhibit on recent non-intrusive investigations into the inner structure of the Egyptian pyramids.... More

Was interesting but spoilt by being unable to get an audio guide because we didn't have ID on us. Despite travelling to many places this is the first one to require ID to get a guide.

The museum is currently being refurbished so some exhibits are closed and it seems there are a lot of staff hanging around at the entrance but only one person selling tickets. The signage is not really clear throughout. I wasn't particularly impressed with the exhibits but the staff are the worst part. We were in the basement and there was... More

It is a good place for a rainy day: it has a few interesting works of art, but very badly presented .

Rainy Thursday in Lille so went to see what France's 2nd largest art museum was like. The outside was covered in a massive advert for a car company and also covered in scaffolding, inside the entry was 7 euros and you have to enter as if boarding at a airport. Inside it is vast but sadly empty. There were a... More

Visited on a Sunday morning, efficient at getting in and through security and through the entrance billeterie. It's a big building, supposedly the second largest are museum behind La Louvre but it' s honestly a bit short of works to exhibit. The impressionist gallery is nice but small, one picture by Monet is good, some nice season pictures by Sisley,... More

€4 to get in for a student is a good price. Real mixture of all sorts there from sculptures, fine art, statues, artefacts, modern art, and coolest of all (I think) dioramas or maps of local towns and cities. Easy to waste a few hours here, easy to get too aswell via metro.
