We were in this museum, but had no idea what to see....we were so pleasantly surprised. Not only the building is interesting, the exhibion -Zec- was thrillingly excellent. We had not heard of this artist before.

First off, be sure to get the audio guide. Our French isn't great, but it seems that the plaques didn't hold all that much information. It's a little disjointed as a museum. It starts off as a reasonable recreation and outline of the building when it was a hospital, with some interesting things of note. However, when upstairs this turns... More

The most interesting part of the building was the architectural variety; due to fires during different periods of its existence, there are multiple, distinct styles to the wings. There is also a nice little museum of art and items, and the chapel ceiling is stunning. Admission was 3.5 euros, and the guidebook comes in multiple languages, which was very helpful.

Not what I was expecting at all and they should really make you aware before you go in that you can not access half the Hospice of there is another exhibition going on.

In beautiful buildings with a long and fascinating history, there is art on the walls, craft in the tiles and furniture, and a tradition of care going back 900 years. An attendant who greeted us as we entered explained that the second half of the booklet provided with your ticket guides you through . After, in my hotel, I was... More

This place has an amazing history, with art on the walls and pieces of heavy furniture enjoyed at the time. We had already visited it the day before, but our French guide was able to tell us more about the nuns who ran the Hospice and were able to help those without the means to help themselves. Would recommend.

The ancient building and garden in the centre of Lille was the first hospital in France and maybe Europe and is used as a museum. Worth visiting.

One gets a glimpse of an era long gone, beautifully restored and well worth a visit. The chapel is beautiful and on a hot day I welcomed the opportunity to have a quiet rest in the courtyard. Not busy on the day I visited a tranquil oasis from the bustle of cafes.

This very old hospital has a lovely peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful design; it is easy to see how it could all help towards being a very healing sort of place. There are whole walls of hand-painted tiles, finely crafted furniture items and numerous paintings. It is probably overlooked but this is a super little museum well worth the few... More
