This canal runs between the Garonne and the Canal du Midi - and it makes for a pleasant walk if you're on your way towards the Japanese gardens, much better than trogging along the main roads. Very popular with joggers and dog-walkers (with the associated mess unfortunately. French people seem not to pick up for the most part).

When you are in Toulouse and want to cycle walk and run, the Canal de Brienne and its wooded banks are a great place to do any of the above. It links up with the Canal du Midi which gives even more scope to same and i enjoyed several lovely runs in both directions

Eventhough there are busy streets from two sides of this canal, you can still get a relaxing moment with stunnig view of trees, little bridges and water. Worth to visit any time!

Trees, paths on both sides, this is a gorgeous walking and cycling area. Connects up with the old brick circular port that links the Canal du Midi with the Canal de Garonne.

A very mild 17 degrees with blue sky and sunshine ensured a pleasant stroll along the leafy canal. Lots of joggers passed me by, plenty of locals also enjoying the calm, tranquil scene. Enough seating on either side of the towpath to contemplate. Dogs catered for with bags placed infrequently.

The beautiful Plane tree-lined Canal de Brienne is located entirely within the city of Toulouse. It connects the Canal du Midi at the Ponts Jumeaux to the Garonne River just above Pont Saint Pierre. It is an excellent place for a jog or a leisurely walk. Unlike the much longer Canal du Midi, the paths along both sides of the... More

Without a doubt Toulouse is a fantastic city with so much to do and so much to see. Nevertheless, sometimes you need a time away from the hussle and bustle. A walk along these beautiful canals provides peace, shade and nature in abundance. In truth, you need to walk a little way out of Toulouse to get the full benefit.... More

You can either walk, bike or run along the canal. A great path to get to the center and avoid roads. Always green with lot of trees. A must see also when visiting Toulouse. Very pretty canal and a pleasant walk.

After a stimulating three-day conference filled with talk, the quiet canal paths are perfect for winding down. I entered at the Gare Matabiau, and walked the just-right length to where it meets the Canal du Midi, which is wider and less shady. There are exit stairs all along the way. Runners use the path along with a few walkers. Figure... More
