This square was packed on a Saturday night. People everywhere. And even dance classes going on. The restaurants are either real good or really lucky on locations.

Super cosy square, hardly any traffic, restaurants, playground, atmosphere, big old trees. A bit touristy in July, of course. But real Toulouse vibe at the same time.

You always cross the square is crowded. It's nice to see all life in there, people having good time, drinking, eating.

We would walk through Saint George square nearly every day, on our way to and from Toulouse center.
Saint-Georges Square gets its name from a small chapel that used to be in the middle of the square, but was moved many centuries ago to the corner of Saint-Georges Street and Antoine-du-T, until 1808 when it was finally demolished.
In the twelfth century St Georges place was called the place of Montaygon after a local land owner, and became a popular place to burn heretics during the inquisition. The French Revolution of 1794 changed the name to place Calas, after Jean Calas who was executed there. In the 30's the name was changed again, to that of French composer Place Paul Vidal, but the city council changed it in 1914 to Place Saint George.
In the 1980s, a cast iron replica of the Wallace fountain on a pedestal decorated with scrolls and dolphins was added to the Place Saint George, unfortunately it had been remove for cleaning, so we did not get to see it.
There are so many fine places to dine around the St George’s Square, with both inside and outside seating, and we dined at a few, enjoying them all. In the evenings it was pleasent to sit at any restaurants around the squares public garden, with a glass of red wine and people watch.
One evening we were fortunate enough to hear the local student brass band playing as they strolled around the square.
TIP: There is a food market in the Place Saint George every morning except Sunday and Monday.

We really liked just sitting at a cafe there and people watch for a few hours. The little square is very quaint and buzzing with locals and tourists!

Place Saint Georges is a nice place to sit down for breakfast or lunch. Many small restaurants and a great bakery with outdoor seating make the pittoreske place very attractive.

After the Place du Capitole, the smaller but very lively Place St Georges with its many bars and restaurants. go there and have a good time, I recommend the Prima Fabbrica pizzeria, the staff is young, dynamic and very available.
