A very interesting visit

Thoroughly enjoyable visit to a beautiful castle. Taught us a little of the way things used to be in the Catalan area 500 years ago.

Wandered around perpignan following signs and came across this palais lovely calm place to walk around friendly staff. Written guide available...more history to absorb rather than things to see ... excellent views of mountains and city

This was highly recommended by the tourist office. We were disappointed as there is not much to see. We went on the guided tour so we're given a history lesson which was quite interesting.

We spent a nice hour wandering around the palace, they gave us a plastic card with information to read and we had a wonder around. It cost about €4 to get in, but be careful, they close quite early, around 5pm I think and we saw some people miss the chance to see it as they arrived late.

There was no one around when we arrived so we went in without paying and I still felt like it was a waste of time. Perpignan is ugly, so bad views from the top and the castle is bland and boring.

Suggest walking and not driving to the entrance, and imposing walk up through the walls to the entrance. Lovely gardens and great views towards the coast and the Pyrénées. The building is fascinating, most rooms are empty but you get a great sense of how they looked 700 years ago. There are multi-lingual paper guides full of information room by... More

Don't be put off by the short walk from the old town - it's well worth it. The great vaulted brick ramp which leads you up to the great court in front of the Palace gives some sense of the majesty of the whole. Stop off before entering the Palace and look at the views which are breath-taking. There's a... More

Fair warning, finding parking around the Palace is a nightmare. However, once you're able to land a spot, visiting the palace is a wonderfully interesting experience. There are no audioguides, but you are provided with a print-out that gives a little background information. The palace was constructed at the end of the 13th century when Perpignan was the capitol of... More

This well-preserved palace is great to wander around. The view from the top of the palace overlook the whole of Perpignan and the outstretched valley. A fascinating place with a glimpse of the past.

We walked up to the Palais. Nice views from the top but not much to see. Herb garden was pleasant. There are a few statues around the grounds and of course a gift shop. We decided not to go into the paid areas.
