    I am a Texan who has had a house in Narbonne for the last 8 years. One of the primary reasons why I bought my home here was Les Halles. The market, voted the most beautiful market in France for 2022, is the heart and lungs of the city and surrounding area. A must visit, as it is special in every way.

The range of food here is extraordinary. Every imaginable type of fish. Many types of oysters. Fruit is just amazing. When we were there we bought luscious peaches and gorgeous raspberries. We also bought the best piece of pork i have ever had. A memorable experience.

Great indoor market

Top notch produce, from fruit and veg through to extensive fresh fish counters. If you like fresh produce markets this will be hard to beat and is open every day from 07:00 to 14:00. Very French, and offers many places to have a drink and eat amongst the shoppers - we did not think our French was up to the hurly- burly of a busy lunch time service so opted for a nearby restaurant! Well worth a visit…..

Wonderful selection. Lovely atmosphere. We have had a great time visiting it during our stay. Sadly, the stallholder at Oh! Saveurs es Terroirs tried to short change us by 40 euros and as we had queried whether she could change the note we were offering, i fear it was deliberate. Buyer beware!

Worth a visit, but..

There’s a real buzz about the place and the produce is wonderful. We were there early at lunch time and we just wanted a glass of wine… which we could not get unless we were eating. This was unfortunate as one of the bar/restaurant staff was quite dismissive and actually offered the seats we were at to other people. Very uncomfortable for both us and them. I’d still recommend a visit but be aware that the place is busy, busy, busy and some of the staff may not be very patient if your French is not fluent.
