Great view

I paid 4 Euros for me and my 6 year old. We climbed up and enjoyed some spectacular views across the city. Not for the faint hearted........

There is also a small museum. .fee.. with roman remains. Nice views from the top on a clear day. Recommended MeuterMedia

There are 64 fairly narrow steep steps to the top but a couple of rooms to explore on the way up so for those that need a little rest between floors, its quite easy. Good views of Narbonne from the top. There's not actually much to see in the tower itself tho. Just one of the things to visit as... More

The Donjon is part of the multi-visit Narbonne Museum Pass, which is well worth buying. Not sure it would be worth going up if you had to pay just for that visit. Great view from the top, and a wonderful place to get great photos of the cathedral.

We, a couple with a young adult daughter, took the train to Narbonne from Carcassonne on the spur of a moment and did not regret that decision. Narbonne is a wonderful provincial city, rich of medieval and Roman vestiges. We bought ourselves three city passes and climbed the 'donjon'. Quite a climb, but no regrets. A fantastic 360 degree view... More

A lot of steps to climb, but the view from the top is worth it. As part of the 7 museum ticket it is value, but possibly not if buying a ticket just for this attraction.

This is the tower just of the main square - itself a great location - and it's worth the walk up the steps to the top for the great views of the cathedral and town.

Visiting the "donjon" we thought we'd be going down, not up, but 162 steps later we realised that the "donjon" was in fact not a dungeon but a fortified tower, dating from 1300, with spectacular views over Narbonne. The extraordinary stone spiral staircase requires an effort, but the reward is great.

This place is a pocket history of the Narbonne area. The climb to the top gives fabulous views and the old and new are well blended into a fascinating trip through past days. After the climb up and the trip back down the square offers many cafés for relaxation.

Just to say - some of the reviews of this place (like mine) are found under the entries for the cathedral or archbishop's palace (palais des archeveques) because the 3 buildings are connected in one complex, and the Via Domitia is just outside the front door. This donjon is fairly simple but very impressive, and well worth the climb (160... More
