The Maison Carree in Nimes is the only Roman ancient temple completely preserved. The inspiration for the design of the Maison Carree came from the temples of Apollo and Mars Ultor in Rome. Inside, you will discover a 23 minutes film "Nemausus, the birth of Nimes" which explains how Nimes became a roman city and shows the construction of the main roman sights of the city (Arena, Maison Carree, Tour Magne).

This Vitruvian style Roman temple was built around 2 AD and is located in the center of Nimes. We were pleasantly surprised by the contrast this very well preserved ancient landmark provided as a result of being situated right across from the modern Carre d'Art public library & art gallery. The rectangular building is 26 m long,14 m wide and... More

Great compliment to a day out in Nimes. The film was very well done. It starts ever half an hour and you have to ready to go in at minute 25 and 55. Don't be late!

The building is wonderful, given that: do not expect more. The ticket was combined with the Roman amphitheater, but here you stand in a queue large enough to see ... just movies and so. On the outside, the building is fabulous!

Loved the film since it gave a history of the city of Nimes. The building itself is also very well kept. Loved all the Roman ruins in the city.

Another landmark to visit in the heart of the city. Signature Roman architecture with the columns. Gives the city a nice feel of old and character.

Billed as the most complete ancient Roman temple, the structure is indeed in excellent condition for being 2000 years old. A very good movie is offered in the temple depicting the founding of Nimes by the Romans and Celtic tribes. Entrance prices are modest and can be combined with other Nimes attractions for an even beter price. Well worth the... More

Inside maison Carrée, you can see a movie from the history of Nîmes. Must see before visiting the City. You can by combination-ticket for maison Carrée + Arena + Tour

Nimes is a very small town but it is well preserved and has many things to see and enjoy by walk. All of them Roman historic sites.

I wanted to see the inside so we bought tickets for the movie that they show in there(the only way to get in) and when we went in, surprise! There is nothing to see if the original building- it is literally nothing but a curtained room with seats and a screen. You can't even see the original walls. Could have... More

We enjoyed Maison Career very much. It only takes about 30minute to see the movie and it is very interesting experience. It gives you more information about the City's history. A must see.
