One of the best kept ancient anphyteatre. It can be visited from the ground to the top and you can take lots of nice pictures from everywhere. The red ribbon surrounding the ground stands out in the sun to complete the atmosphere. The free audio guide is full of info but looks a bit too verbose to me. So I... More

My teenager - who admittedly is rather obsessed with all things Roman - was entranced by the Arena and what I thought would be a 30 minute visit turned into two hours because she wanted to listen to ALL the extras on the excellent FREE audio-guide. We visited late afternoon when the crowds had died down - the Arena is... More

We all enjoyed this visit, helped very much by the excellent audio guides. The children had their own too and enjoyed learning about the different kinds of gladiators. Definitely worth a visit.

When I booked tickets to see Sting perform at the Festival de Nimes in the Arenes I knew it would be special. I had no idea how special it would be. A magical night all around.

It's not as big as the Colosseum, but well preserved and worth visiting. You can watch Corridas in the arena in summertime.

Visit here a must if you are in the area. Very good audio guided self tour (guided tours also available but not really needed). A real sense of the past from the commentary and the fact also that the arena is still in use, albeit sadly for bull fights. Reputed to be the best preserved of its type anywhere in... More

The Amphitheatre is in excellent condition (considering) and is still used today for certain events. You are supplied with an audio guide for your spoken language which I thought was really good and well presented. We did end up going the wrong way but that might have been our fault but we soon got back on track. As it's so... More

This is spectacular. There is access to all levels of the arena from the very top to the sandy floor of the central space. Our two boys loved it. There are lots of steps and it is hard on your knees. There are some interesting infornation boards on the different types of gladiator and roman arenas. Information is also in... More

Went to two concerts and found the whole experience magical. Hundreds of people went in and out like clockwork, no rush, no hassle. Seating somewhat uncomfortable so take a small cushion.Fabulous atmosphere.......Some of the outside facade had been cleaned and restored, looked so much better, hopefully it will be completed in the future.

This sightseeing is impressive to me even I have been to Roma colosseum. Comparatively, there was fewer people and you can enter inside to view. The staff is very professional and friendly. Although Nimes is a tiny ancient city, they tried their best to promote tourism!
