I stayed here with my daughter, then my husband. The room, although a tiny double, was attractive, well thought out, good quality linen. The service was consistently friendly and helpful. We’ll come again. Thank you.

I wanted to walk along the top of the aqueduct but it was impossible. Instead I took a few photos from below and walked through the neighborhood which was nice but unremarkable.

This is the highest point of Montpellier. The aqueduct is nice to see even though the surroundings were under maintenance when we visited.

We were staying opposite the aqueduct so we walked from there down to the water tower and then through the gardens to Les Arceaux. The whole of this area we found beautiful. The old architecture is stunning and is so grand.
I would most certainly recommend taking a walk through this area for sure.

What better way to spend your time in Montpellier than by taking a stroll through Esplanade du Peyrou, a large open space lined either side with trees that provide welcome shade from the powerful summer sun.
As you enter the esplandade, your eyes will focus on the statue of Louis XIV, just in the middle of the square, and on a monument opposite to the entrance. It will look like a fountain, but it actually is an old aqueduct, called Chateau d'Eau (Water Castle) dating back to 1768. It still provides water to the fountains of Montpellier. The view from here is breath-taking.
Starting from the Water Castle, the aqueduct continues for 880m, with an impressive structure made up of 53 arks: Les Arceaux, form which the surrounding area takes its name.
An impressive market is held under the arks on Sundays, with an abundance of fresh, local produce. There's plenty of choice and it's always bustling without being too crowded.
Directions: From Place de la Comédie, take Rue de la Loge, continue onto Rue Foch (past the arc de triomphe) and Esplanade du Peyou is right in front of you!

This area provides the setting for a huge and glorious mounted statue of Louis the 14th. Walk to the end of the concourse and you can see the Chateau d'Eau ( water tower) and the Aqueduct Saint Clement.

A beautiful setting and a very imposing entrance without all the crowds in P aris. A walk through the arch leads you to a small park with a superb viewing point and water feature. Lots of shade for a hot sunny day. Montpellier is a beautiful city with lots to offer visitors.

When in Mont P make siure you visit Les Arceaux, and if you head there on a Saturday there is a wonderful market under all of the Arches! Definately worth a visit with your Euros!
Also, if you fancy a game of Petanque, maybe take the locals on, they play there until 1am!!!
