Fairly small, and maybe I was expecting too much for a building in such a wonderful town. However, I thought the place was not particularly memorable. Superb stained glass and a serene aura, but that's about it.

The basilica is a beautiful Gothic style edifice. I loved the gargoyles, quite unique to any I'd seen before...and the 750-year old stained glass window was magnificent. Sadly whilst we were there it was currently undergoing renovation work so the chancel end was blocked off...but...More

The basilica is one of the most beautiful churches I've visited in Europe. It's fairly small but the details and stained glass work inside the church are very intricate and beautifully designed. The basilica is worth visiting after going to the castle, as the castle...More

Carcassonne is small, and after the castle walls then the basilica must be the next major attraction. Some nice stained glass. An interesting church and worthy of some time and a few photos.

Lovely old church . Very quiet considering the crowds of people outside. Many tourists but all showing respect. This is still a religious place where you can have a prayer, light a candle if you wish.

This building is currently undergoing renovations and is in the main not accessible. Although you can enter a small portion of the church, the rest is screened by polythene.

Undergoing major works but still able to get limited access. Stain glass windows are beautiful. Was able to watch some of the craftsmen undertaking some of the work. This is a must visit location

I visited to see the glass. Unfortunately I was unable to see it properly as the choir area is undergoing extensive repairs and is sheeted off from the public. The rest of the church is rather dark and unremarkable but the glass is a must see!.

Due to major restoration work we did not get to appreciate the full splendour of this magnificent Basilica. However there was still so much to appreciate and the highlight was the Stained Glass Windows.
