I love this venue. The entire venue is a modern embrace of the historical setting. Quite a few years since I’ve been here but yet the attraction seems to still be the Mona Lisa.

It’s attraction seems not to have wavered. There is now an exclusive room to queue for the Mona Lisa although there are other pieces in this room which seem to go largely unnoticed as the queueing masses clamber ti get in the queue for the ultimate selfies r opportunity

The statue of Jean D'Arc is the big attraction here. Otherwise you are in the middle of some old buildings that have been converted to offices, so there is not a lot of interest for tourists. Very old part of the city.

This small square named in honour, of Napoleons victory, at the battle of the Pyramids (egypt) in 1798.

The square is located on Rue de Rivoli at the intersection of Rue des Pyramides and Avenue du General Lemonnier, is home to the gold gilded statue of Joan of Arc, The square itself is nothing special, however, of note for us was the pedestrian crossing that runs under the monument crossing Rue de rivoli, vheicles stopped at the red light across at Avenue du General Lemonnier, treat is as a drag strip when they get a green, realising they have to stop, at the crossing. Note: most don't, its like playing frogger.

Title says it all. Disregard the name of the square, there is nothing here related to pyramids, it's just named after the Battle of the Pyramids.
The gilded equestrian statue of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc) is impressive and worth a glance if one is passing by, on the way to somewhere else.
This should definitely not be a destination for any one.

Like Marmite, ‘love it or hate it’. Put me into the second category but, I must admit, it works.
Hate it because it ruins the whole feeling and view of the wonderful Louvre buildings. It takes over. However, as an entrance to the Musee de Louvre it is a wonderful way of controlling the crowds of visitors. Another hate is that once in and underneath the Place des Pyramides the commercialisation of Paris shopping comes into play. Expensive shops littered around.
Moaning over. The visit to the Louvre was wonderful.

The controversial pyramid. Come and form your own opinion. I support it as the reconstruction allowed for a better entrance to the museum that solved the terrible traffic jam issues. Can be fun on a pleasant day.

Place des Pyramides is public square situated along Rue de Rivoli near the western end of Jardin des Tuileries. This is a small place named after Napoleon's victory over the Egyptian armies at the Battle of Pyramids (1798).

Not a lot to see here other than the the gilded equestrian statue of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc). Otherwise, just a lot of traffic that passes through this square. Make a quick stop here if you enjoy viewing monuments and statues during your travels and then continue onward sightseeing in the area.

Things were getting congested at the Louvre, so something had to be done to control the crowds. This pyramid and the new entrance area underground were the solution and it seems to have worked. The pyramid is controversial in design, but I like it. It's a new icon.

This is a central area of Paris, cleared and now a space for markets and shows. Jeanne D'Arc statue near here.

So, after a lot of research I see that many reviewers have cited the glass pyramids at the Louvre to be the location of this place - mere guessing on their part, but they are WRONG!!

As the location has "pyramides" in the title, they've assumed it relates to the obvious ones at the Louvre but in fact it relates to a battle Napoleon won against Egypt in 1798 and nothing at all to do with the Louvre. So congrats to those reviewers who did their homework and got it right - good job! We rely on and love those reviewers, thank you.

The actual location of Place des Pyramides is where the Joan of Arc statue exists on Rue de Rivoli (see pic). It's a grand area and quite busy with traffic but looks lovely at night when the hotel behind the statue lights up the building.
