Incredible, locally made French artisan clothing and jewelry for women and children

La Boulangerie was located one street below our Montmartre flat during our recent 10-day visit. It is operated by the actual artists and designers who have handmade the clothing, jewelry, scarves, and hairpieces on display. The designs are beautiful and truly an artful and interesting way to bring loved ones something home from Paris. We bought to adorable play outfits for our nephew. I also selected a leather hairbow and a beaded bracelet for my two other teenage nieces. In addition, I was privileged to get to meet with and speak to the French designer who made my niece's gift! This is a wonderful place to shop and convenient if you are walking from the funicular or the tourist shops below Sacra Coeur, up to the Butte Montmartre arts square. Give them your support and take home a piece of Paris' art for the body. Cannot commend or complement these creative women enough!

AVOID! Insulting staff. Overpriced merchandise.

I cannot possibly recommend this establishment. It was the location of a most unpleasant interaction which has stayed with me and even still makes me feel quite angry and upset. My teenage daughters and I were visiting Montmartre on our first trip to Paris together last week when we visited this shop. After much deliberation, my daughter choose a bracelet for me to buy for her as a birthday gift. After paying for the bracelet the shop assistant (a lady with short grey hair) turned to my daughter and asked her if she was going to buy the earrings she had been looking at. We were all quite non-plussed at the statement. I explained that she had showed me a pair of earrings but we had decided against them. She proceeded, in front of all the other customers, to say that the earrings were missing and she asked my daughter to walk across the shop to find them and bring them back to show her. My daughter, who understandably was hugely embarrassed at this point, did as she was asked. She found the earrings where she had left them and brought them to the shop assistant to show her. Even though it was clear that my daughter had been wrongly accused of taking the earring she received no apology. The shop assistant didn’t even appear to be aware that her behaviour might be a source of upset. We left the shop upset and a little shocked at what had transpired and we carried on our tour of Montmartre but felt that our day was spoilt by our experience. Even now, when recounting their first trip to Paris, “the rude lady in Montmartre who accused her of being a thief” is sadly one of the first memories that springs to my daughter’s mind. If we do return to Montmartre we will purposely avoid this shop and I would urge any future customers to be very careful in this shop for fear of having a similar upsetting experience to us.
